Description

A pristine white marble temple built in 1964, marking the exact spot where Goswami Tulsidas composed the Ramcharitmanas — the epic retelling of the Ramayana in Awadhi. The walls of the temple are engraved with verses and scenes from the Ramayana, making it both a place of worship and a living manuscript. The temple's elegant architecture and tranquil atmosphere make it a favorite among both devotees and literature enthusiasts.

History

Built in 1964 by the Sureka family of Varanasi on the spot where Tulsidas composed the Ramcharitmanas. The temple is made of white marble and features scenes from the Ramayana carved on its walls. An upstairs museum houses a puppet show that dramatizes episodes from the Ramayana. The temple also hosts annual literary festivals celebrating the legacy of Tulsidas and the Ramayana tradition.

Significance

This is the birthplace of Ramcharitmanas, one of the most widely read texts in Indian literature. The temple uniquely combines devotion with literature — every wall tells a story from the Ramayana.
